Can't we all just be quiet and let them teach?

Note: I am slightly pissed off while writing this, so this is much more extreme than I would normally be

Without further ado:

Look. I don’t care how if you have mental problems. I'm not going to be all nice and say that you deserve concessions. Some people might. But if you are regularly a jackass or violent or disruptive then you really do need an aid. I'm tired of not learning, or having class be distracted because of the mental illness child who has no one to control him. I mean the teachers don’t do anything some times. It’s horrific. We deserve a better more focused learning environment. There’s this one kid. He’s incredibly smart and all, but he has no self control. He constantly interrupts the class and goes of topic. Sometimes it’s interesting to talk to him when he does this. But very rarely. He needs an aid, but de does not have one. This is very problematic for my learning environment. Problems like this need to be fixed. The physical state of our school is doomed and isn’t going to improve because of the new building and all, but the mental state has so much improvement needed. You may think I’m harsh, but you know I’m not wrong.

  • I agree with you. If a child with learning issues is distruptive to the class, then he or she should have an aid or, if the situation is more severe, be put in a seperate class. People may argue that children with special needs should be treated like everyone else, but obviously that is not often possible.

  • I completely disagree. I'm sorry, but you need to make concessions sometime. Part of being in a classroom with 20 or so other people is learning to allow people who learn in a different way to have their chance. Aids are helpful but expensive, and many 'special needs' kids really do not want one -- and therefore will act out more if given one. Likewise for being in a separate classroom. Very little learning happens when all of the 'different' people are grouped together. It's up to us to sacrifice a little -- and seriously, how much of your time is eaten up? very little -- to let others learn in their own way. It's not an ideal situation, of course. But to group everyone together and push them out of the way because we aren't mature enough to tolerate people who learn differently would be incredibly selfish and, ultimately, fruitless.
