Obama is NOT Magic, and A Dream of a Better Bailout

I hope that all of you who are reading this are smart enough to realize one simple thing. Obama is not magical. He will not magically cure the economy, end the war, or fix any of the problems we have. However wonderful he is, he is not this country’s messiah. Worst of all, his bailout plan will not work. Its going to be another trillion dollars added to the nation’s debt.

I have a plan though. I doubt its feasible, but I’ve been thinking about it for a while, and this will work better than the proposed one. I think… First lets examine the main problem behind most of the proposed bailouts that we will see in the future. The main problem with them is that they rely on the assumption that people will be going out and spending the money that they’re getting. Will this happen? Let’s put ourselves in the shoes of lower America, the ones who have the worst of this crisis. “I’ve just lost a large amount of money. The government is giving me money. Whatever will I do? Invest in something? Buy lots of stuff? Hell no. I’m going to save the money so that I have something to depend on when this happens again.”

How can this be fixed? The thing is, there is no way the government can do it without losing money. It’s simply the amount of money lost that matters. There are two groups of people that need help the most right now, small business owners and the unemployed. Giving out money to buy stuff seems to help the unemployed, but small business owners are still plagued with difficulties. My solution? Give them a tax break! How? I'm so glad you asked.

Give out, instead of checks, bills. Government guaranteed money that can be spent at stores that are classified (by tax bracket) as small businesses. SBO’s can put up signs advertising that they take those bills. When tax season comes around, SBO’s can use those bills to pay their taxes. The thing is that these bills must be inexchangeable for cash, only goods and services provided by SBOs. This way, the government gets the vast majority of the money that they gave out back, small businesses get a consumer surge, and people are forced to spend. Unless they really are idiots.

What do you guys think?
